The polynomial
[tex]2x^3+18x^2-18x-162=(2x^3+18x^2)-(18x+162)=[/tex]
[tex]=2x^2(x+9)-18(x+9)=2(x+9)(x^2-9)=2(x+9)(x+3)(x-3)[/tex].
Then k=3.
