George Washington

In 1775, the second Continental Congress had a meeting in Philadelphia were they approved the creation of a professional Continental Army under the command of George Washington. In late 1776, George Washington changed his attacking tactics where they launched surprised strikes against British forces in their winter. This idea of surprised attacks enabled the new professional force to defeat the British especially in the 1777 victory at the Battle of Princeton.
