First set 2nd equation to x.
X=5+y
Then substitute that for x in the 2nd equation.
5+y +2y = -1
So 3y = -6
Or y = -2

Then substitute -2 for y in first equation
X-(-2) = 5
Or x + 4 = 5
X= 1
