The membrane in the ear is named after the musical instrument known as drum.
Eardrum, also known as myringa and tympanic membrane (a tympanum is also a type of a drum) is a part of your ear which separates the middle from the external ear. It transmits sound from nature into your inner ear, so that you can hear properly.
