first, distribute the 2 to the numbers inside the parentheses:

you'll get: 14x + 4 = 64

subtract 4 from  both sides to get the x value by itself.

you'll get: 14x = 60

divide both sides by 14 to get the x value

you'll get: x = 60/14 or x = 4.29

(7x+2)2=64
14x+4=64
14x=60
x=[tex] \frac{60}{14} [/tex]=[tex] \frac{30}{7} [/tex]
