A common side effect of both chemotherapy and radiation therapy is hair loss.

If you run into a cancer patient and think that cancer is making their hair fall off, you're wrong. While the chemotherapy/radiation is trying to get rid of the bad cancerous (it's not cancer in all cases; it's just an example) cells before they multiply, it kills the good cells too.
